Rory Hamilton has earned rave reviews for his work as the go to voice for the national team and is has been left fizzing.
Scotland commentator Rory Hamilton has let rip in the wake of the cruel decision to rule out Scott McTominay's stunner against Spain.
The broadcaster has earned rave reviews for his work as the go to voice for the national team on Viaplay and was in the booth to react to the call which led to the Manchester United hero seeing his incredible strike being chalked off by Serdar Gozubuyuk and his VAR officials. Anger has increased after it appeared the UEFA officials appeared to firstly rule it out for a foul on Unai Simon from Jack Hendry before the reason was changed shortly after with an offside cited as a reason the goal was not given. And Hamilton reckons it's high time VAR was chucked in the bin.
Speaking on social media, the commentator said: "I’ve always been a supporter. I appreciate that a sometimes it takes an incident against your team, but honestly, I’ve been thinking this for a while. What an absolute mess they’ve made of VAR. It is completely ruining the game and robbing us of moments. Bin it now."
And even media in Spain didn't hold back as AS slammed the call to rule the goal. They wrote: "McTominay bounced it and the ball went directly into the Spanish goal, but the VAR rang the bell and the Dutchman Gözübüyük went to the screen while La Cartuja swallowed saliva. Finally, the goal was annulled due to Hendry's foul on Unai Simon, a light touch, a light push that rescued more than one person from the memory of the Glasgow train robbery.
