Scotland needs a huge rise in housebuilding to help our people get on property ladder | AnasSarwar
Over a decade of soaring rents and house prices has left people vulnerable to price rises and now across the country, families are at breaking point.
The Record revealed last week that under SNP plans Scots are facing a Council tax bombshell to fill the blackhole in Council budgets created by years of SNP-Green cuts. And while homeowners worry about how to keep their homes, for others home ownership just moved further out of reach. The number of new affordable new homes approved to be built halved in the space of just three years, creating a ticking time bomb.
And while the rent freeze was a welcome emergency measure to protect tenants, sticking plasters aren’t enough. It is vital that the Scottish Covid Inquiry is able to shed some much needed light on this travesty, but that will require total transparency from this typically secretive SNP government.
