The popular restaurant has built a strong reputation for its menu based Scottish beef and classic steakhouse dishes.

Scotland’s Best Steakhouse for 2026 has been named. The popular Glasgow restaurant claimed the title at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards 2026 as it celebrates 16 years in business.

The Butchershop, in the West End, picked up the national title in recognition of its long standing reputation for premium Scottish steak, quality produce and customer service. Scotland’s restaurant scene is known for high quality local produce, from fresh seafood to premium cuts of beef. Steakhouses remain a major part of that reputation, with diners continuing to seek out venues that combine Scottish ingredients with strong hospitality and carefully crafted menus.

Since opening almost two decades ago, The Butchershop has become one of the best known steakhouses in Glasgow, building its reputation around grass fed Scottish beef sourced from fifth generation farming families. The restaurant is part of Rusk and Rusk, the independent hospitality group behind several well known dining venues across Scotland. The group also owns The Spanish Butcher, which operates restaurants in both Glasgow and Edinburgh .

The award follows 16 years of trading for The Butchershop, which has built its menu around Scottish beef and steakhouse dishes. Owner James Rusk said the recognition marked a significant moment for the restaurant as it reached its 16th anniversary. He said: “We are truly honoured for The Butchershop to be named Scotland’s Best Steakhouse, particularly as we celebrate 16 years in business.

“This award reflects the passion, commitment and hard work of our entire team, who strive every day to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests. We are also sincerely grateful to our loyal customers, whose continued support over the past 16 years has made this achievement possible. ” The Butchershop has developed a strong reputation within Glasgow’s dining scene for its steak-focused menu and modern restaurant setting.

Scottish beef remains central to the offering, alongside seafood dishes, cocktails and an extensive wine selection. The restaurant group has continued expanding in recent years, with The Spanish Butcher becoming another prominent part of the company’s portfolio through its focus on Spanish and Mediterranean inspired dishes paired with Scottish produce. Rusk and Rusk said maintaining high standards of hospitality and sourcing quality ingredients remain key priorities across all of its restaurants.

As The Butchershop enters its 17th year on Sauchiehall Street, the restaurant said it plans to continue evolving its menu and dining experience while remaining committed to showcasing Scottish produce and hospitality. The restaurant also holds a 4.4 rating on Tripadvisor from more than 2,400 reviews. One delighted customer said: “This is the best restaurant in Glasgow by a mile!! Food is 10/10 and the staff are absolutely amazing!

” Another wrote: “Another excellent dining experience and right up there with the best steak options in Glasgow. The restaurant has a classic grill/steakhouse feel with a great atmosphere — lively but still comfortable enough to enjoy a proper meal. ”
