Writing in his fortnightly Daily Record column, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar says the NHS sums up what makes our country great and what a Labour government can deliver.
The NHS sums up what makes our country great and what a Labour government can deliver. A service born out of the rubble of the Second World War that persists to this day – treating everyone in need regardless of their economic or social background.
And that is more than the entire number that waited a full day in 2023. Unbelievably almost 200 Scots waited over two days in A&E. This is shocking. But it is just a snapshot of the crisis in our NHS. The SNP is just offering the same old broken status quo. Scots can’t continue to pay the price of SNP incompetence. It’s why we need a change of direction. More of the same won’t cut it. All we have from this SNP Government is a continued denial and the hunt for excuses.
Scots deserve an NHS that is there for them when they need it – if John Swinney and the SNP cannot act now, Scottish Labour is ready to save our NHS at the 2026 election. It’s time for a new direction for Scotland to save our NHS, boost our economy and deliver for the people. We must continue to work with the US Administration, as we do with allies across the globe, to pursue peace, security and global prosperity. That includes an end to the war in the Middle East so that the people of Palestine, Israel and Lebanon can live with peace, security and freedom.
