The forecast is looking extremely positive for the end of May.
-wise, we could be set for a scorching spell over the upcoming bank holiday weekend. A dreich and stormy start to the year has been followed by fairly disappointing conditions throughout spring.
But that could all be about to change - and at the perfect time too. The Spring Bank Holiday on Monday, May 25, will mean many people across the country will be enjoying a long weekend in the next few days.are looking extremely positive, with a chance that we could see a heatwave in parts of the country.
For it to be officially recognised as such, maximum temperatures will need to meet or exceed the heatwave temperature threshold for three consecutive days. It's a similar outlook for the next few days, with Tuesday, May 19, expected to be "a day of sunshine and frequent showers" which will be "heavy at times with hail and thunder".
There will also be showers on Wednesday, May 20, and it will "turn increasingly humid on Friday" as rain is met with increased sunshine. And that's when the better weather really starts to kick in. High pressure will "bring a good deal of fair, warm weather to the UK during the Bank Holiday weekend" and temperatures will continue to rise.hitting at least 20C from Friday, May 22, and running through the weekend.
While the national weather agency's forecast only runs until Sunday, which they have as a 22C day, the BBC reckons it could stay as high as 21C until Tuesday, May 26. This would mean an incredible run of five days of at least 20C over the bank holiday weekend for Scotland's biggest city.
And it's a similar story for much of the country in the coming days.is forecast for at least 21C from Friday to Sunday, and Dundee, Stirling, and Perth are all expected to reach highs of at least 20C each of those days too. Throughout most of Scotland, towns and villages will either be in the high teens or low 20ws.
And even in the country's more distant locations, includingThe national forecaster's predictions from Friday onwards do mention the possibility of some showers, it will be a period dominated by good weather. The Met Office forecast from Friday, May 22, until Sunday, May 31, reads: "High pressure is expected to bring a good deal of fair, warm weather to the UK during the Bank Holiday weekend.
"It may be cloudier with a chance of some showers across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but even here it will be much warmer than the previous week and there will be plenty of dry weather around too. "Through the following week, high pressure is expected to broadly remain in place for much of the UK, and fine weather is likely to continue for most of the country.
