In his Record column, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar says Labour will clean up Westminster and Holyrood.
This is a pivotal moment for our country – in 10 days time, Scotland finally has the chance to boot out this rotten Tory government. It’s our chance to reject the sleaze, scandal and corruption they have degraded our politics with.
We saw that again last week as allegations emerged that senior Tories were exploiting their insider knowledge to place bets on the date of a General Election. This whole sorry saga has been yet another reminder that we cannot afford another five years of this morally bankrupt Tory government. But we cannot rely on the SNP to restore integrity in politics.
We can start to drive down NHS waiting lists by providing enough additional funding for Scotland’s NHS to deliver an extra 160,000 appointments a year. And we will put honesty, openness and integrity back in government and work to rebuild trust in politics. To tackle culture of secrecy and cover-up that the SNP has instilled in the Scottish Government, we would strengthen Freedom of Information laws.
