The driver is due to appear in court after allegedly blowing 164 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath after a police stop in Edinburgh.

A man will appear in court after he allegedly got behind the wheel while more than seven times the legal drink drive limit, police have said.

A reported reading of 164 micrograms per 100ml of breath was recorded by the officers in Edinburgh yesterday, with the driver arrested and charged with drink-driving. The legal limit in 22 micrograms per 100ml of breath in Scotland. Edinburgh's road policing unit also allege the motorist had no insurance and was driving carelessly, reports Edinburgh Live.

Officers shared an image on the breathalyser to Twitter, which, if correct, means the roadside test driver was 7.4 times the legal limit. They said: "EdinburghRP dealt with a driver who was well over the legal drink drive limit today.
