A total of 13 local authorities made a combined profit of £47 million from parking charges last year. But what do drivers pay?
Scottish Government figures published this week show the total profit made from parking soared from £27.5million in 2021-22 to £47.2million in 2023-24.
In the busiest parts of the Capital it now costs £8.20 per hour to park, seven days a week. Edinburgh also raised on-street parking charges by around 22 per cent in April 2024, following a 20 per cent increase the previous year. DUNDEE The City of Discovery brought in £1.91 million from a total of £5.7 million. City centre parking charges begin at £2.70 for up to 30 minutes, and £3.50 for between 30 and 60 minutes.
STIRLING Drivers in Stirling pay 90p for 30 minutes in the city cente's 'zone A', with up to two hours costing £2. Zone B is £4 for two hours.
