A couple from Loanhead, Midlothian, is making a significant difference in the lives of struggling families by providing essential items and fostering a sense of community.
A Scots couple, Christopher and Bethany Archibald, living in Loanhead, Midlothian, are helping struggling families in their area. They began after spotting a post on social media about a family needing help. Now, Christopher delivers items such as Christmas gifts and cleaning products to those in need. They connect with people who can donate or contribute financially, using these resources to support families.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Christopher said that they realized many people need help but are too embarrassed to ask. He said, 'Someone needs to help them, so why not us?' They aim to continue helping in the new year and hope donations won't dwindle. They emphasize the importance of community support. Christopher added that there's a lot of help at Christmas but it often dries up in January. They are currently assisting 20 adults and 18 children. The couple believes modern life lacks community spirit and wants to revive it. They acknowledge some criticism from those who suggest people should seek help from charities instead. Christopher responded, 'We're not a huge operation or anything, just trying to help people.' The Archibalds, despite their efforts to help others, admit that they sometimes struggle themselves
