Cameron Robertson, 41, survived after being hit by two 'dum dum', or hollow point bullets which were fired by a masked gunman on a Brooklyn street.
A Scots holiday-maker said he is "lucky to be alive" after being shot twice while on holiday to New York.
Cameron, who is a financial advisor, initially received treatment from police before being rushed to hospital where doctors found another bullet lodged in his thigh. Thankfully, the ammunition didn't hit any bones or arteries, and he was able to fly back to Britain the next day where surgeons removed the bullet from his leg.
A spokesperson for the NYPD said they were still hunting two men involved in the shooting. Cameron says he was fortunate not to lose a limb with the 9mm hollow point round that hit him being designed for "maximum damage" Cameron was rushed to the Kings County Hospital Center in New York. He said doctors found that one bullet had gone straight through his arm, but the other bullet was lodged in his thigh.
Since returning home he had undergone surgery to remove the bullet which is being sent back to police in New York to aid their investigation. He was told by the New York Police Department that ten shots had been fired, but the reason why still remains unclear.
