John Henderson, who held a senior position with NHS Lanarkshire, wrote out bogus forms for seven months.
A doctor who admitted writing prescriptions for dead patients and collecting the medication for himself has been spared jail. John Henderson, 39, hatched a scheme writing out fake forms over a seven month period.
Henderson, of Gloucester, pled guilty to a single charge of fraud at Hamilton Sheriff Court. Sheriff Linda Nicolson ordered him to pay £883.02 in compensation to the NHS and perform 100 hours of unpaid work Investigators linked the paperwork to Henderson and NHS delivery drivers later said they had been asked to make unusual collections from pharmacies on his instruction. In June 2022 a search of his home found needles and drugs and he was arrested.
"He recognises this offers no explanation but it was his thinking at the time. He is deeply sorry for attention the case has caused, it was selfish and he offers no excuses." Henderson was also out under supervision for nine months. He currently has restrictions imposed against his registration with the General Medical Council while a probe takes place.
