Travellers booked up for sunny getaways may see disruption on major holiday routes as staff are to be balloted for strike action over the summer.

Scottish airports may be facing chaos this summer as staff are to be balloted for strike action amid a row over breaks and pay.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Workers at Aberdeen and Glasgow airports have emphatically rejected ICTS’ miserable pay offer. The company is extremely profitable, and it can easily afford to make a far better offer to our members. The workers also cover mobile patrols, control access posts, screen all deliveries and deal with emergency services. The parent group ICTS Limited recorded its latest annual accounts with Companies House in March this year, which show profits of £3.2m in 2023 - up from £2.3m in the previous year.

Strike action is set to disrupt several industries elsewhere across Scotland this summer. On Wednesday, GMB said thousands of cleansing and waste employees across the country were being invited to take part in a walkout in an ongoing dispute over pay.
