Emergency services raced to Whitelee in the South Lanarkshire town after the alarm was raised at around 4pm on Friday. Six properties were quickly evacuated as fire crews battled to control the blaze.
The roof of the properties have completely caved in as abandoned belongings can be seen scattered around the rooms. Some of the windows could be seen smashed while broken roof tiles lay scattered around the homes. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.40pm on Friday, October 20, 2023, we were called to a report of a fire at a block of flats, Whitelee, East Kilbride. Emergency services attended and six properties were evacuated.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed two appliances remained at the scene on Saturday morning.
