Up to 30 firefighters battled the blaze with one casualty rescued by crews who remained at the scene until 1am on Thursday.
A Scots man reportedly had to grab his dog and jump onto a mattress to escape a ferocious flat fire at the property below.
Greg Mcintosh who lives next door to the block of flats, told how a neighbour above the burning apartment saved himself and his pet in a dramatic escape. "The boy above the flat on fire had to get help out his window, he had to chuck his mattress out the window, then his dog, followed by himself." The block suffered blown-out windows in the blaze with scorch marks visible up the side of the building.
