George Evans' Lhasa Apso was run over on Aitken Street near Dennistoun in Glasgow.

A pet owner has told of the tragic moment his beloved dog died in his "arms" after he was struck by a car in Glasgow .

Hamish - who joined George at work everyday - was on his leash walking home, before the little one was hit by a 'speeding' car. "It just took him right underneath, at this point I was directly behind the car and Hamish came out the back end, off his lead - as he rolled out I began running after the car."

George described Hamish as his "life", he added: "he was my inspiration and gave a lot of love and loyalty which was reciprocal from me. He was such an amazing character and I will always carry him in my heart."
