A seven-year-old boy from Edinburgh, Scotland, named Ethan Hunter has tragically lost his battle with cancer. Ethan was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor at the age of four and later with secondary cancer. In his memory, his school planted an oak tree for people to tie ribbons on.

A seven-year-old schoolboy from Scotland has lost his fight against cancer. Little Ethan Hunter from Edinburgh was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor on his right shoulder in 2021 at the age of four, just a few months after the birth of his twin brothers, Harvey and Ronan. The young boy was then diagnosed with secondary cancer around his brain and down his spine, with his family being told he may only have a few weeks to live. He sadly passed away around 1.

30am on July 14, 2024, leaving his family and school teachers heartbroken. Now, an oak tree has been planted at Frogston Primary named 'Ethan's Wishing Tree'. Planned by support teacher Amanda Brand, who worked closely with Ethan, the tree allows those close to the young boy to tie ribbons onto the memorial each year on his birthday or when they miss him. She told Edinburgh Live: 'The tree is to bring peace, and help the family through their grief. It's also a testament to how honored I am to have cared for Ethan and that he will never be forgotten.' Ethan's mum, Kimberley, previously said: 'It’s amazing, when you lose your child, you just want to make sure they are still remembered and their memory lives on. His brothers are starting school next year too so it will be really special for them. 'Ethan adored school and he adored Amanda - they had such a great relationship. They were so supportive right from the beginning. Anything he needed they would be there.
