Residents in two towns reporting seeing the unusual site during the extreme weather
Scots were left stunned after spotting a 'mini tornado' during a thunderstorm on Friday evening. Residents in East Kilbride filmed the phenomenon around 5.30pm, with the swirling column of air seen coming down from the sky but not touching the ground.
Glasgow Live reports that Gary Alexander Devine spotted the mini tornado while taking the bin out. He said: "It was just as the thunder started to hit before 5.30pm. It's the first time I've ever seen anything like it and I've been here my whole life. "It reminded me of water going down a plug hole at first, the clouds got darker and it just gradually got longer and longer and you could see it spiraling back and forth, moving about like a snake, thought for a moment it would touch down but it lasted maybe five minutes or so and the clouds began to clear when there was more thunder and it began to rain a little."
