New regulations in Morocco require travelers to print boarding passes, causing potential issues for Scots tourists flying with Ryanair and easyJet.
Scots tourists planning a winter-sun getaway to Morocco , Albania , and Turkey have been warned about new boarding pass rules. The Mirror reports that these rules could disrupt travel plans. Travel experts have raised concerns on social media, with Sabrina Escapes sharing advice on TikTok for travelers going to Morocco . She emphasized checking boarding pass rules, as both Ryanair and easyJet have issued warnings for UK holidaymakers traveling to Morocco .
This is due to Moroccan local regulations prohibiting the use of mobile boarding passes. Travelers who forget to print their passes could face fines of up to €50 (£42) at Moroccan airports. Ryanair, known for its budget flights, stated that while mobile boarding passes are generally accepted at most airports, they can be problematic for trips to Turkey, Tirana, and Albania. The airline recommends printing boarding passes before traveling to these destinations. Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary advises passengers that some airports are unable to accept mobile boarding passes yet, requiring travelers to check in online and print a paper boarding pass. While Ryanair charges up to £20 for printing a boarding pass, easyJet confirmed they do not charge for printing at the airport. However, they recommend requesting a printed boarding pass before departure.
