Wattie Milne was embraced outside court by his wife - former page three glamour model Karen Baggoley - after dodging the prison sentence over the brawl assault.
A wealthy tycoon who was found guilty of breaking a rival's jaw in two places during a pub brawl has been allowed to walk free from court.
The jury heard how Milne - who owns a company involved in construction of the Royal Commonwealth and Olympia swimming complexes - had been captured on CCTV lashing out at Mr Boyd after a row broke out in the bar. They were told that Mr Boyd's jaw was broken in two places and he needed metal plates inserted during surgery to rebuild the bone structure.
In that case he was jailed for two years for using a metal pole to leave his victim scarred for life. "There is no doubt there was severe injury," Mr Gilmartin said. "But it was a single blow. There was no sustained assault and no weapon was used. Sheriff Gary Aitken told Milne and his co-accused that they were lucky he was not allowed to forfeit their vehicles because the charge was reduced from dangerous driving. All four admitted driving carelessly on a one and a half mile straight stretch of road of the 60mph A890 near Glencarron on 27 April 2019 at 95mph.
