Mark Baxter took part in the London Marathon in April - but just six miles from the finish line found himself in unbearable pain and was rushed to hospital.
An Edinburgh man was devastated when he was told he 'would never run a marathon again' after suffering a brutal injury whilst competing in the London marathon.
Often competing in marathons and raising over £6,000 for charity, Mark's dream was to qualify for the Boston Marathon and with the New York Marathon in his sights - he wants to 'defy the odds'. "Running is an extreme passion of mine. It keeps me fit and it's good for your mental health. The surgeon told me it's a nine to 12-month recovery period and he said it could take up to two years before I could jog again. He said it was 'extremely unlikely' that I would run another marathon due to the extent of the break and then having to cut through my hip abductor muscle.
