He enjoyed a stunning start to life at his new club with a stoppage time winner to send St Andrew's wild.
Philippe Clement cashed in on the attacker as part of his summer rebuild at Ibrox. The 27-year-old was involved under the Belgian in the early part of this season with outings in the Champions League third qualifying round clash with Dynamo Kyiv and also two Scottish Premiership outings against Hearts and Motherwell. Ibrox team-mate Ben Davies already made the switch for the campaign on loan to St Andrew's while Celtic did a deal to allow Tomoki Iwata to depart for the Blues.
Explaining his move south, via Birmingham Live, Wright said: “I was getting game time at Rangers but I just felt like it was time for a new challenge for me. Once I had spoken to them it was a no brainer. Coming and being part of this project and this journey was something that really interested me.
"Thank you to everyone at the club behind the scenes and all of my team-mates that have been apart of my journey. I want to thank Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard for bringing me to this club, and all of my previous managers I’ve worked under during my time there.
