PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler has had to withdraw from the first tournament of the 2025 season due to a unique injury sustained while preparing Christmas dinner.
Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from the PGA Tour's 2025 season-opening tournament, The Sentry, which will take place next week, January 2-5 at The Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii. Scheffler, who won seven PGA Tour titles last year, hopes to be back in action at The American Express tournament on January 16. But for now, he will be out of action after suffering a very strange injury which occurred when making Christmas Dinner.
His manager, Blake Smith revealed: 'On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass.' He has been told that he should be back to 100 per cent in three to four weeks. So it seems Christmas in the Scheffler household has led to a spell off of the course for the time being. He will be hoping to return to action soon into 2025 and continue the incredible form that he built in 2024. Scheffler won an Olympic gold medal and seven PGA tour titles before being named the PGA Tour's Player of the Year for the third straight season
