Saturday’s Only Sport Scottish Amateur Cup Second Round was devoid of any major surprises.
Almost all the well-known clubs made it through to Round 3. Bannockburn and Drumchapel even enjoyed the luxury of a Walkover as their scheduled opponents withdrew from the competition.
The Round produced 6 drawn games, with those replays joining the postponed ties to ensure another busy Saturday next week.Much-fancied Castlemilk OBC romped to an 10-0 win over Dollar Glen . Breadalbane dismissed Dundee Saturday Morning side, Kelso Amateurs 11-0. Rhu Amateurs top-scored, overwhelming Perthshire’s Kinnoull Reds 14-1. EK RR continued their recent good form in the Scottish, winning 9-0 away to Clydebank Red Star . Craigroyston won 11-3 away to Southside Athletic .
It was a good day for former winners. Shortlees won emphatically by 6-0 against East Kilbride Dynamo, another Glasgow Colleges side. Lothian & Edinburgh’s Tollcross Thistle won 4-0 versus Campsie . Giffnock North edged a 7-goal thriller, winning 4-3 away to Troon Dundonald . One noticeable feature of this year’s tournament has been the number of Under-21 sides taking part, some the younger branch of their club’s senior side.
