Both cigarettes and e-vapes may soon be prohibited from being used in beer gardens across the country.
Scots could soon no longer be able to light up a cigarette or puff on disposable vapes during the summer months with pals in beer gardens, following the introduction of a new law.
According to new reports, smoking could be prohibited in pub gardens, alfresco dining areas, outside hospitals and sports grounds. These measures are being suggested as part of a more stringent version of the previous government's Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which would ban the sale of tobacco to anyone born from January 2009 onwards.
According to The Sun, confidential Whitehall documents confirmed plans to extend the indoor smoking ban despite some opposition within the government. A spokesperson said, according to the BBC: "We do not comment on leaks. Smoking claims 80,000 lives a year, puts huge pressure on our NHS, and costs taxpayers billions.
