A fire deliberately started at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in Scotland has forced the closure of the building and the postponement of all trials scheduled for Thursday. Police are investigating the incident, while court services are being diverted to a temporary location.

A Scottish court was set alight in the early hours of the morning throwing trials into chaos. The door of Kirkcadly Sheriff Court was found with scorch marks after a wilful fire took place just before 5am on Thursday, February 6, reports the Mirror.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue added: "We were called to Whytecauseway in Kirkcaldy to reports of a fire. Crews from Kirkcaldy and a height appliance from Dunfermline were mobilised to the scene. We received the stop message at 7.17am.” The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service said: "The main building in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court is closed today. All criminal business will call at Kirkcaldy Annex, those coming to court should attend there.
