The design museum is offering free entry to popular exhibitions as well as live music and street food.
A SCOTTISH design museum will host a day of free exhibitions and activities to celebrate its fifth birthday.
The V&A Dundee museum, which first opened its doors in 2018, will offer free entry to several exhibitions from 10am to 10pm, including their headline exhibition Tartan which features more than 300 tartan objects from around the world on display.READ MORE:The museum will also open Stories from the Building, a permanent display introducing visitors to the stories behind the creation of the museum, to commemorate the anniversary.
As well as free entry to exhibitions, live music and family activities are also planned to take place on Saturday, September 16.The event will also feature live performances from Kintra – a DJ-violin duo who recently played theIntroducing Stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Dundee – as well as Be Charlotte, Andrew Wasylyk, and Dundee City Pipe Band.
Leonie Bell, director of V&A Dundee, said: “This important five-year milestone is an opportunity to thank all our visitors, partners, members and supporters as we reflect on the incredible journey that led to the opening of V&A Dundee, and five years of firing imaginations and sparking curiosity. “We have a full day of free activities planned, including free entry to the Tartan exhibition, family design fun, architecture and gallery tours, live music and dance performances and the launch of our new display, Stories from the Building.“We’re actively looking ahead to the future as V&A Dundee continues to connect with communities to inspire and empower through design.V&A Dundee’s fifth birthday event is on Saturday September 16 from 10am to 10pm.
