Scottish Premiership clubs have voted in favour of phasing out the use of artificial pitches in the top-flight.

Scottish Premiership clubs have voted in favour of banning the use of artificial pitches in the top-flight. The surface will be phased out by 2026 after a vote on the proposal was passed by at least nine of the 12 Premiership clubs. Next season's top flight will be made up of Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee, Dundee United, Hearts, Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Rangers, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren.

Raith Rovers - who missed out on Premiership promotion after defeat to Ross County in the playoffs - also have an artificial pitch and described the proposal as 'fundamentally flawed' alongside lower league clubs Falkirk, Queen of the South and Hamilton Accies who are the only other club to have used the surface in the top flight.
