A Tory MSP has been accused of trying to wreck legislation protecting women from harassment outside abortion clinics.
Holyrood’s health committee backed the bill, but noted there are different views among MSPs on silent prayer. Mackay criticised the Balfour amendments: "I will always consider constructive suggestions, but I will not support wrecking amendments or anything that could undermine or weaken protections for service users and staff.
“The fact of the matter is that someone repeatedly occupying a space outside an abortion facility is intrusive and stressful for patients and staff accessing services whether it’s silent or not. We’ve collected hundreds of testimonies from women across Scotland which highlights this.
