Amy Gwynn's Rude Gentlemen's Club, on Duke Street, is the largest club of its kind in the UK
Today marks International Women's Day , a time to celebrate inspirational ladies across the world using their voice for good causes.
Fast forward seven years and Rude moved to its current location at 64 Duke Street, where Amy’s vision really came to life. She said: "The colours and symbols of a Rude girl is pink and black, which for me symbolises the feminine energy and the masculine energy coming together. That we’re not just women, there is no divide."
Naturally, Amy has adopted a 'mother hen' role at the club - not only with her club's girls, but also with her own four daughters. She says she is proud to have a sisterhood of like-minded women celebrating their bodies. But now, "I love it," she says proudly. "I love that shock factor where people ask what I do and they probably assume I run a hair salon or something, and I say, ‘I run a strip club’. I love their reaction."
Rude Gentleman’s Club has even ventured into pole fitness, setting up Rude Girl Studio - a premium pole studio for fitness, self confidence, mixed ability and ‘stripper-esque’ pole dance classes. Open to anyone, and a space for the dancers to train, the studio previously featured on Olivia Atwood’s ITV show Getting Filthy Rich.
