- ROME, SEP 25 - Screen legend Sophia Loren is convalescing after undergoing surgery for a fractured hip sustained in a fall in her Geneva home on Sunday, the press office of Sophia Loren Restaurant has said.
The 89-year-old actress had been due to open a new restaurant in the chain that bears her name in Bari on Tuesday. Other Sophia Loren Restaurants are located in Milan and Florence and at Rome's Fiumicino airport. Former sex symbol Loren was the first foreign-language actor to win an Oscar, for Two Women, in 1961, and she also has five Golden Globes in her trophy cabinet. .
