We've all heard that too much screen time is bad for our kids' development - but new research suggests it has negative affects even when they're not watching.
Parents who spent more than four hours on screens on an average weekend day had children with poorer language skills, new research by a team of Estonian scientists has found.
The screen time of their parents was also assessed, with under two hours considered "low" usage while over four hours was considered "high". The average child studied spent 1.8 hours a day on screens, mothers averaged four hours and fathers 4.3 hours. However, video games were found to have the biggest negative impact, regardless of whether it was the adults or kids playing.
