Have the Seahawks finally found their solution at center?
The Seattle Seahawks have made the big decision to sign former Miami Dolphins center Connor Williams. With Olu Oluwatimi and Nick Harris in competition for the starting position, it seems more likely than not that the winner is “other”, in this case Williams. That isn’t to declare that Oluwatimi isn’t good or will never become an NFL-level starter, but Williams has vast starting experience and was playing his best football before his season prematurely ended.
Nick Harris is probably too small to be a starting center and it could be a Joey Hunt redux. My suspicion/assumption is that the competition may have been spirited but not to the point of giving the coaching staff any confidence that they’re viable starting options. I’d also argue it’s a fallacy that rookies and players on rookie contracts are entitled to playing time for the sake of development.
