Well, heck. That was a fun opening day of Seahawks training camp at the VMAC.
The sun was out, the breeze off Lake Washington was cool, and a bald eagle floated in circles over the field for about five minutes while the Seattle Seahawks took the field. A seaplane even landed in the distance at one point. You couldn’t paint a better picture of a Puget Sound football practice with oil and brush. I wasn’t able to get a press pass, so I was only able to interview one guy. It was with the DJ. He wore a jersey that said “Kemyst” and blasted hip-hop throughout practice.
Neither one gave up as the Jackson/Smith-Njigba ball coiled and rolled at the referee’s feet. Finally, the ref indicated JSN’s possession, and the crowd roared. Michael Jackson stood up in disgust and did not moonwalk back to the sideline. But I loved to see so much passion on day one. The guys were energized and fighting for every throw. One last Geno moment to note is that he hit DK Metcalf for a ten-yard TD – right over Tre Brown.
