Sean Dyche cut a delighted figure after his Everton side maintained their fine form with a 3-2 victory at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday
Sean Dyche believes his side are beginning to answer the questions that Everton fans ask of them after a fourth win in their last five away matches.
“I’ve said it all my career as a manager, you can only offer guidance, you can guide players to where they’ve got to be but they’ve got to own it and I think they are and this group are beginning to go, ‘we know we can play.’ There’s real talent, I’m convinced of that and I’ve seen it but what about when it’s not your day, the hard yards and the ugly stuff, that’s the questions that have been asked of Everton over the past couple of seasons.
“I’ve said to them: ‘It’s hard in the Premier League to dominate matches, particularly away from home’. If you look at the stats and facts of home teams in the Premier League, these included, how can you find ways of winning? “They question us and I’m fine with that because they come and if you come in the numbers they do, fair play, have your questions. But enjoy today and enjoy the other moments we’ve given them recently.”
“We had to do it last week against Brighton and nearly won but got a good point and then coming down today, the away form here was a big question mark and we got it, we’re beginning to change the mentality towards these games and I think that was on show today, finding different ways to affect a game, even when it’s not your day or you’re not as fluid as you can be, so I’m really pleased with that.
