Producers are casting the net in the area for the protagonist in the film
Producers of a new short film that’s to be shot in Wishaw are searching for a boy from the area to play the leading role.

However, Kitty, Kat and Ryan want the titular role of the protagonist, Boy, to be a local and potentially undiscovered talent, and ideally from Wishaw where the film is set and will be shot. “Just now we’re trying to get a flat and it’s important to me that it’s in Gowkthrapple, and it definitely needs to be in Wishaw.
Kat said: “Myself and Kitty are producing Ryan’s project. Our final development meeting with BBC Film coming up and they will green-light the script.“Ryan is very passionate about working with non-actors and he pulled that off very well in his previous films, which involved a lot of hand-held filming but for this one he is wanting to go for a stylised still sort of approach.
“We will be casting for several other roles ourselves and not through the casting director, so hopefully we’ll be able to put out a broader call out for other undiscovered actors in the not too distant future."No previous acting experience is required but the successful individual is expected to match the character description: independent, resilient and empathetic.
