A search for a missing Kiana boater continued on Thursday in the area of the Kobuk River above Noorvik, according to officials.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -
The Alaska State Troopers reported on Tuesday that 30-year-old Brandon Sheldon was the lone missing person of a boating party whose vessel capsized a day earlier. Troopers say they were informed at 8 p.m. Monday of the disappearance of Sheldon, whose disappearance was reported by four boatmates. Besides AST, volunteers from numerous villages including Noorvik, Selawik, Kiana and Kotzebue have stepped in to help with the search.
According to the Northwest Arctic Borough’s search and rescue coordinator, Kotzebue sent two boats to assist with the search, which then joined boats from Noorvik and Kiana in the search.
