Specialist police units were pictured on the scene near the Red Brook, off Oak Road, on Wednesday evening . A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said officers were called over reports that 'a suspected firearm was found' on land near Warburton Lane.
Firearms officers and search teams were scrambled to the area, with 'two suspected firearms' discovered. No further details about the suspected weapons have been released at this stage.The GMP spokesperson said the incident was treated with the 'utmost seriousness'. In a statement, the force said: "We were called at 6.20pm yesterday evening to reports that a suspected firearm was located on land near Warburton Lane in Partington.
"Specialist firearm officers alongside response patrols attended the scene, and two suspected firearms were recovered. We understand these types of incidents will cause concern in our communities and we treat every single report from members of the public with the utmost seriousness."
