SPD's presentation to the council said, that “expanding capacity helps address persistent public safety issues and allows SPD to better address the growing vehicle theft problem.” “This change could have dangerous consequences, potentially enabling law enforcement in states with abortion or gender-affirming care bans to bypass Washington State’s existing protections and obtain data on visitors seeking healthcare in Seattle,” said Tee Sannon, the Technology Police Program Director for the ACLU of WA.
