OL Groupe, the Seattle Reign FC's parent company, announced Monday that they reached an agreement to sell the club.
The OL Reign capped off their season with a thrilling 3-0 victory over the Orlando Pride to clinch the NWSL Shield. The trophy goes to the National Women's Soccer League team with the best record in the regular season, determined by a points system. According to the, the Reign earned the Shield "for the first time since 2015, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 10,746 at Lumen Field." This is their 3rd time winning the NWSL Shield.
The club also noted the transaction is expected to close in early 2024, pending approval by both the National Women's Soccer League and MLS Board of Governors.Over their first 11 seasons, the Reign won the NWSL Shield three times while also making three appearances in the NWSL championship and seven postseason appearances.announced their plan to change their club name

The club used the name Seattle Reign FC during the team's first six seasons of play at Starfire and Memorial Stadium and even won consecutive NWSL Shields in 2014 and 2015 as the Seattle Reign FC, according to the club. The team also recently announced their plan to retire club legend Megan Rapinoe's number 15 jersey on Aug. 25 at Lumen Field when they play the North Carolina Courage.
