One question each about Geno Smith, Sam Howell, and PJ Walker!
We’re less than one week out from the Seattle Seahawks’ first training camp under Mike Macdonald. There are a lot of questions about the roster which we hope will be answered through camp and the preseason. Over the next couple of weeks we will have key questions across every position, with the exception of the all-encompassing special teams. This article will focus on quarterback, which is one of the few positions on the team with no real competition for a starting spot.
Hopefully what we see is an offense that can push the ball more in the intermediate part of the field, where Smith’s rate of throws dropped from 22 percent in 2022 to just 17.9 percent last season. Drew Lock is out, Sam Howell is in. The Seahawks traded for Lock as part of the Russell Wilson deal, and the only time he started was when Geno Smith was hurt. Geno’s job isn’t under threat in the immediate, so the former Washington Commanders starting quarterback will assume the role of backup.
