Finley Cook, 20, of Heskin Lane, Ormskirk, has been remanded into custody and will appear before Preston Magistrates Court today
The 19-year-old died after suffering stab wounds on Railway Road in the early hours of July 29. Lancashire Constabulary were called shortly after midnight to reports of a disturbance and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he died later in hospital.
A police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts remain with Matthew’s loved ones at this extremely distressing time. They continue to be supported by specially trained officers." Detectives are continuing to appeal for information on the whereabouts of a man they want to speak to as part of their ongoing enquiries. Thomas Dures, 19, has links to Aughton and Liverpool.
