The Oscar nominees star as lovers turned parents in a romantic drama from ‘Brooklyn’ director John Crowley.
Pugh and Garfield star as Almut and Tobias, a couple whose meet-cute is at once unique and exceedingly dangerous: She hits him with her car. After that rocky beginning, we watch as they fall in love, build a home, and have a daughter together. But over time, we see Almut’s blonde tresses become a buzz cut after she receives a seemingly terrible diagnosis. “I’m not interested in a treatment that accidentally wastes our time,” says Almut in voice-over as Tobias shears her hair.
” We Live in Time was written by Nick Payne and directed by two-time BAFTA winner John Crowley, who helmed the Oscar-nominated Brooklyn. Benedict Cumberbatch is an executive producer on the film. It’s another entry on A24’s busy upcoming slate: The company’s Colman Domingo–led prison drama, Sing Sing, hits theaters on July 12, followed by Max and Sam Eggers’s horror thriller, The Front Room, on September 6.
