Billy Connolly first appeared on the chat show back in 1975 where he hilariously recounted his youth in Glasgow and professed his love for wellies.The comedian would come on the show many more times over the years such as when he appeared alongside American actor Tom Cruise.Govan-born trade unionist Jimmy Reid also appeared on Parkinson in 1973 and was involved in a heated debate with Carry On actor Kenneth Williams.
Reid, who was one of the leaders of the 1971 Upper Clyde Shipbuilders work-in, discussed a range of issues including the place of trade unions in society.James Bond star Sir Sean Connery was also interviewed by Michael Parkinson when he appeared alongside future Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Royle Family star Ricky Tomlinson.
In the interview, Sean joked about Boris Johnson's scruffy appearance before going on to talk about how he got into the acting business.
