— The public can now access legislative records, information and services from both Houses of Congress in one online platform called “eCongress,” House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said Thursday.
“e-Congress will provide updates on the status of bills, and resolutions and report legislative undertakings to inform the public and encourage citizen participation,” Romualdez said during the online platform launch. The platform also “establishes and maintains an integrated and secure digital legislative management system for the Congress of the Philippines,” he added.
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco and Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. also signed a memorandum of agreement on the operating details and system maintenance of the online platform. Romualdez said information and communications technology, among others, will be used to facilitate the eCongress.According to the resolution, eCongress will allow both Houses to “update their intra and inter-chamber processes” to “further strengthen coordination between them and facilitate citizen engagement in the legislative process.”
