THE Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has recommended the filing of charges against President Rodrigo Duterte, Pharmally Pharmaceuticals Corporation officials, former government personnel and several others over the alleged anomalies in the use of public funds amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.
“In the course of doing so, the President attempted to diminish the Senate and COA , institutions that safeguard our democracy and integrity,” it added. * Order the issuance of a patently illegal memorandum preventing his Cabinet members and other officials of his administration from attending the hearings;
The committee recommended the filing of charges against Lao, former procurement director Warren Rex Liong, Pharmally Pharmaceuticals directors and officers, Michael Yang and Lin Weixiong for violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee launched an investigation after COA flagged in its 2020 audit report the use of P67.3-billion Covid-19 funds of the DOH.
