TACLOBAN CITY – A senior citizen was killed and his companion was wounded in a shooting incident in San Isidro, Leyte, on Tuesday, October 17.
Police said Salidaga was driving his motorcycle with Sergio Aribado, 60, a teacher, also a resident of San Isidro, as back rider from the town proper heading home when two motorcycle-riding men appeared shot the victim in the head and body.Salidaga fell to the ground while Aribado sustained minor injuries after he crashed to the ground.Victims were taken to a hospital in Calubian, Leyte where Salidaga was declared dead on arrival.
Police Col. Salvador Alacyang, deputy regional director for operations of the PRO-8, said this is an initial deployment as there will be a simultaneous send-off ceremony nationwide on October 23. "We should not wait for any eventuality to come. You will be deployed in the first district of Western Samar and third district of Leyte. These are the places that we need to watch," he told the troops.
