New brand will hit European markets later this year with a triple-pronged SUV line-up
Chinese car firm Seres is gearing up to expand into Europe, setting premium brands including Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Tesla in its sights. It will hit European markets later this year with a line-up of three new SUVs – the 5, 7 and 9 – offering a selection of range-extender and battery-electric powertrains. Its entry-level offering, the 5, is positioned to rival the Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID 4. In electric guise, it has a 76kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack.
“We aim to redefine luxury with technology; with intelligence,” the firm’s foreign markets boss, Dr Jiaxi You, told Autocar. He explained: “The smart cockpit, for example – you can talk to the cars and autonomous driving or the navigation assistant. That’s a highlight of the vehicles. We are mainly focused on two areas: the smart cockpit and ADAS .” Those driver aids, You claimed, are “only restricted by the regulations”.
