Sergio Perez has announced his departure from the Red Bull Formula 1 team after four seasons. The Mexican driver will leave the team following a difficult 2024 season where he struggled for performance and finished eighth in the drivers' championship. Perez's contract, originally signed in June and running until the end of 2026, is being terminated by mutual agreement after negotiations between Perez and Red Bull since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Perez expressed his gratitude for his time with the team in a statement on Instagram and a Red Bull press release, thanking the team members, engineers, mechanics, fans, and especially his teammate Max Verstappen. Team principal Christian Horner also thanked Perez for his contributions to the team
