There is significant traffic congestion and severe delays on the M6 motorway this morning following a serious collision near Preston . Three lanes remain closed on the northbound carriageway between Junction 31 for Samlesbury and Junction 32 for the M55 Broughton Interchange. The incident was first reported shortly before 7 am today (February 3) and all traffic was temporarily held for approximately 15 minutes. Emergency services are currently at the scene, and all lanes are blocked.

AA Traffic News now reports that there are 100-minute delays on the M6 northbound between Charnock Richard Services and Junction 31A. There are also 15-minute delays southbound at Junction 31 and nearly 40-minute delays on the M61 northbound from Junction 8 at Chorley. The crash on the M6 is now causing 50-minute delays on the northbound carriageway and also 45-minute delays on the M61 northbound from Chorley. All traffic is being temporarily held, and there are severe delays due to an accident on the M6 in both directions between Junction 31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury) and Junction 32 M55 (Broughton Interchange).
