The A38 Derby Road is shut in both directions near Burton-upon-Trent after a serious accident.
The A38 southbound has been closed in Staffordshire following a serious crash that left a driver in a critical condition.
The southbound route has been shut between the A5121 Claymills and A50 Derby/Toyota island junctions, with no estimated reopening time. Police said colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene.
